France has engaged in discussions with Denmark about the possibility of deploying French troops to Greenland in response to repeated threats by U.S. President Donald Trump to annex the Danish territory. French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot stated that France is open to sending troops if Denmark requests it, emphasizing that the borders of the European Union are non-negotiable. However, Denmark has not expressed a desire to pursue this plan. Barrot also noted that the U.S. is unlikely to invade Greenland, and no one has an interest in entering into conflict with the EU. This comes as Denmark plans to strengthen its military presence in the Arctic region with a €2 billion investment, following Trump's persistent interest in acquiring Greenland.
