Trump Invites TikTok CEO Shou Zi Chew to Inauguration Amid Potential Ban Delay
Jan 16, 2025, 02:30 PM
Shou Zi Chew, the chief executive officer of TikTok, plans to attend President-elect Donald Trump's inauguration on January 20, according to multiple reports including The New York Times. Chew has been invited to sit in a position of honor on the dais alongside other prominent tech leaders such as Mark Zuckerberg, Elon Musk, and Jeff Bezos. The invitation comes as TikTok, owned by China's ByteDance, faces a looming nationwide ban in the United States, set to take effect the day before the inauguration. Trump, who has amassed 14 million followers on TikTok, is reportedly considering issuing an executive order to delay the implementation of the ban by 60 to 90 days upon taking office.
