Hamas Hands Over Three Israeli Hostages to Red Cross in First Release Since Ceasefire
Jan 19, 2025, 03:09 PM
Hamas has handed over three Israeli female hostages to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in the northern Gaza Strip. The hostages, identified as Romi Gonen (24), Emily Damari (28), and Doron Steinbrecher (31), have been in Hamas captivity since they were taken from Israel and are now making their way to Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) and Shin Bet forces in Gaza. This marks the first time the hostages have met with the Red Cross since their captivity began. The transfer, confirmed by the ICRC, is the first release of hostages since a ceasefire went into effect Sunday morning. Footage of the handover has been released, and the hostages are being transported through the Netzarim Corridor area.
