Trump Calls for Immediate Ukraine Ceasefire After Meeting Zelenskyy in Paris
Dec 8, 2024, 02:16 PM
President-elect Donald Trump has called for an immediate ceasefire and negotiations to end the conflict in Ukraine, following a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and French President Emmanuel Macron in Paris on December 7th. Posting on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump stated that Zelenskyy "would like to make a deal and stop the madness," and urged Russian President Vladimir Putin to act to bring the fighting to an end. He emphasized that "too many lives are being needlessly wasted, too many families destroyed." Zelenskyy emphasized that any agreement must include security guarantees for Ukraine and called on world leaders to ensure "peace through strength." The Kremlin responded by listing its conditions for peace negotiations.
