Iran Agrees to Increased IAEA Oversight at Fordow Enrichment Facility Amid Western Threats of Sanctions

Iran has agreed to increase oversight of its Fordow enrichment facility, according to a report from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). This decision comes as Iran has accelerated uranium enrichment activities, nearing weapons-grade levels. The IAEA indicated that Iran's agreement includes more frequent and stringent inspections at the site. In response to this development, the United Kingdom, France, and Germany have expressed readiness to reinstate sanctions against Iran if necessary to prevent the country from acquiring nuclear weapons. This potential action aligns with their commitment to maintaining nuclear non-proliferation and follows a resolution by the IAEA's Board of Governors aimed at increasing accountability for Iran's nuclear program. Iranian officials, including Mohammad Eslami, head of the Atomic Energy Organization, confirmed that Iran would not obstruct IAEA inspections and acknowledged that increased enrichment capacity would naturally lead to more inspections.
