Trump Assures Zelenskyy in Wednesday Call, Seeks Diplomatic Resolution with Putin
Nov 10, 2024, 06:48 PM
President-elect Donald Trump has assured Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in a Wednesday call that he will not abandon Ukraine, emphasizing his desire to give diplomacy a chance, according to Barak Ravid. In one of his first calls after the election, Trump spoke with Russian President Vladimir Putin, expressing his intention to restore diplomatic relations and end the war in Ukraine. Trump aims to seek a quick deal to resolve the Russia-Ukraine conflict, as noted by U.S. diplomat Kurt Volker. However, NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte warned that if Trump allows Putin to win in Ukraine, he will personally expel the United States from the alliance. Additionally, NATO's top military official cautioned that Trump’s actions could harm America if he permits a Russian victory in Ukraine.
