Cuba's Foreign Ministry Twitter Hacked for $CUBA Memecoin Scam, Launches 'Justice for $CUBA'
Jan 20, 2025, 12:24 PM
The Twitter account of Cuba's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, @CubaMINREX, was reportedly hacked, leading to the unauthorized launch of a memecoin named $CUBA. The hackers used the account to promote the memecoin, which was subsequently rugged, causing financial losses. In response, another memecoin called 'Justice for $CUBA' was launched from the same account as an attempt to compensate for the losses. This incident has sparked discussions about the vulnerability of official accounts to cyber attacks and the potential for such hacks to be used for fraudulent schemes in the cryptocurrency space. Cuba launched four such pump and dump schemes, reportedly making their yearly GDP in an hour. It was also noted that the third scam was executed by an Indian developer.
