Man Arrested for Bomb Threat, Hostage Situation at Iranian Consulate in Paris
Apr 19, 2024, 12:50 PM
French police have arrested a man who threatened to detonate explosives at the Iranian consulate in Paris, located in the 16th arrondissement. The suspect, reportedly equipped with a grenade and an explosive vest, entered the consulate, leading to a swift response from security forces including the mobilization of the elite BRI unit. The area around the consulate was cordoned off, and public transportation, including Metro Line 6, was temporarily shut down. The situation escalated when the man allegedly took the Iranian ambassador hostage inside the consulate. However, elite police units, including counterterrorist forces, managed to arrest the suspect without any explosion occurring.
