Giants Sign Willy Adames to Record $182 Million Deal, Surpassing Posey's Contract
Dec 7, 2024, 10:24 PM
Shortstop Willy Adames and the San Francisco Giants have agreed to a seven-year, $182 million contract, pending a physical, marking the largest deal in Giants history and surpassing the previous $167 million contract held by Buster Posey, who now serves in the team's front office. Adames, 29, delivered a career-best season in 2024 with 32 home runs, 112 RBIs, 21 stolen bases, a .331 on-base percentage, and accumulated 3.1 Wins Above Replacement (WAR). Recognized as an All-Star caliber player with strong defensive skills, Adames is expected to significantly bolster the Giants' lineup, which ranked 19th in weighted runs created plus (wRC+) last year. The contract includes a signing bonus of approximately $22 million.
