Heliot Ramos Makes History with First Right-Handed Splash Hit, Padres Sweep Giants 4-3
Sep 15, 2024, 11:00 PM
Heliot Ramos made history by becoming the first right-handed hitter to hit a home run into McCovey Cove at Oracle Park. His splash hit in the ninth inning tied the game against the San Diego Padres. Despite Ramos' historic homer, the Padres ultimately defeated the San Francisco Giants 4-3, completing a series sweep. Fernando Tatis Jr. contributed to the Padres' victory with a go-ahead home run in the eighth inning. This win marks the first time the Padres are 20 games above .500 since 2010. Ramos’ home run was the 105th Splash Hit by a Giant and the 168th all-time driven into the Bay in the ballpark’s history.
