Israeli Airstrikes on Masyaf in Hama Kill 14, Injure Over 40, Spark Fires
Sep 9, 2024, 05:50 AM
Israeli airstrikes targeted the Syrian Scientific Research Center in Masyaf, located in the Hama countryside, resulting in significant casualties and material damage. The strikes, which occurred late Sunday, killed at least 14 people and injured more than 40, according to Syrian state media. Among the casualties were Syrian soldiers, non-commissioned officers, and non-Syrian figures, possibly from Hezbollah. The attack also wounded 15 others and sparked fires in the area. The targeted facility in Masyaf has been previously struck by Israel and is believed to be involved in the production of surface-to-surface missiles and other military equipment. Syrian air defenses responded to the attack, which is considered one of the most severe Israeli strikes on Syria in recent years.
