India Rejects Canada's 'Persons of Interest' Allegations Against Diplomats as 'Preposterous'
Oct 14, 2024, 08:55 AM
India has strongly rejected Canada's allegations that Indian High Commissioner Sanjay Kumar Verma and other diplomats are 'persons of interest' in an investigation related to the killing of Hardeep Singh Nijjar. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) called the claims 'preposterous imputations' and attributed them to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's political agenda centered around 'vote bank politics' and a 'deliberate strategy of smearing India for political gains.' India stated that Canada has not shared any evidence to support these allegations and reserves the right to take further steps. The diplomatic relations between the two countries have further deteriorated following these developments.
