Trump's Incoming Ukraine Envoy Kellogg Advocates 'Maximum Pressure' on Iran at NCRI Event in Paris
Jan 11, 2025, 04:58 PM
Keith Kellogg, the incoming special envoy to Ukraine and Russia for U.S. President-elect Donald Trump, attended an event organized by the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) in Paris on Saturday. Kellogg, a retired Lieutenant General, postponed a planned trip to European capitals until after Trump's inauguration on January 20. At the NCRI event, Kellogg called for a return to a policy of 'maximum pressure' against Iran to transform it into a more democratic country. He emphasized the need for not only military but also economic and diplomatic pressure on the Iranian government. The NCRI, which has its headquarters in Paris, has repeatedly advocated for the overthrow of the current Iranian regime, though its level of support within Iran remains unclear. NCRI President-elect Maryam Rajavi stated at the event that the regional balance of power has shifted against Iran's leadership, urging Western governments to stand with the Iranian people.
