Russia Rejects Trump's 20-Year Delay Proposal for Ukraine's NATO Membership and Peacekeepers, Says Lavrov in TASS Interview
Dec 29, 2024, 12:49 PM
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has rejected former President Donald Trump's proposal to delay Ukraine's NATO membership for 20 years. In an interview with TASS, Lavrov stated that Russia finds the proposal unacceptable, echoing President Vladimir Putin's earlier declarations that Ukraine's accession to NATO is not negotiable, regardless of the timeframe. Lavrov also dismissed the suggestion of deploying European and British peacekeepers in Ukraine, emphasizing that any agreements regarding Ukraine must be unbreakable. While Russia remains open to negotiations, it firmly opposes any conditions that would allow for Ukraine's NATO membership.
