The United States will continue to maintain its military presence in eastern Syria to prevent the resurgence of ISIS, according to Daniel Shapiro, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for the Middle East. Pentagon officials stated that American forces will take necessary measures to defend their troops and partners in the region. "Our forces in Syria are working to confront threats from the Islamic State, and we have made great achievements," a Pentagon official said.
