Dec 19, 2024, 11:45 PM
The Pentagon has announced that approximately 2,000 US troops are currently in Syria, more than double the previously reported figure of 900. Pentagon Press Secretary Maj. Gen. Pat Ryder stated that in addition to the core presence of 900 troops, there are about 1,100 temporary rotational forces deployed to support the counter-ISIS mission. He acknowledged that he recently learned about the higher number of troops on the ground, and that the additional forces have been in Syria for several months.
