U.S. Sends B-52 Bombers, Warships to Middle East in Warning to Iran
Nov 1, 2024, 10:17 PM
Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin has ordered the deployment of additional U.S. military assets to the Middle East, including several B-52 Stratofortress bombers, tanker aircraft, Navy destroyers, ballistic missile defense destroyers, and fighter squadrons. The move aims to bolster the U.S. presence in the CENTCOM region as the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln and its accompanying warships prepare to depart. The Pentagon stated that these forces will begin arriving in the coming days. According to U.S. officials cited by the Associated Press, this deployment comes amid heightened tensions with Iran and is intended as a warning following new threats of aggression against Israel.
