Pentagon Reveals 2,000 U.S. Troops in Syria, Including 1,100 Temporary Forces
Dec 19, 2024, 09:58 PM
Pentagon spokesman Major General Pat Ryder announced that the United States has approximately 2,000 troops in Syria, not the 900 previously reported by the Department of Defense. Ryder explained that the additional 1,100 personnel are temporary rotational forces supporting the counter-ISIS mission. He acknowledged that the Department had been citing the lower figure for months and stated that he recently learned of the actual troop numbers. Ryder also confirmed that the U.S. has no plans to withdraw from Syria.
