Russia Intercepts Eight ATACMS Missiles Over Belgorod, Warns Ukraine of Retaliation
Jan 4, 2025, 03:00 PM
Russia's Defense Ministry reported that it intercepted eight US-made ATACMS missiles launched by Ukraine towards Russia's Belgorod region on January 3. The ministry stated that all eight missiles were shot down by Russian air defense systems, including the S-400 and Pantsir-SM. Following the attempted attack, Russia vowed retaliation against Ukraine, warning that the use of ATACMS missiles could prompt a hypersonic ballistic missile attack on central Kyiv. Additionally, Russia claimed to have downed 61 Ukrainian drones overnight across multiple Russian regions, including Rostov, Bryansk, Voronezh, Belgorod, and Oryol.
