Ukraine Launches ATACMS, Storm Shadow Missiles at Rostov; Russia Intercepts 10 Missiles
Dec 18, 2024, 04:31 PM
Russian air defense systems activated in response to Ukrainian missile strikes targeting the Rostov region, including Rostov-on-Don, Taganrog, and Kamensk-Shakhtinsky. Acting Governor Yury Slyusar reported that air defenses intercepted 10 missiles, including ATACMS ballistic missiles and Storm Shadow/SCALP-EG cruise missiles. The attacks reportedly targeted military and industrial facilities, such as the Taganrog Metallurgical Plant and the Kamensky Combine, a major chemical plant producing rocket fuel. In the village of Malaya Kamenka, debris from intercepted missiles caused a residential building to catch fire. This marks the first time that Storm Shadow missiles have targeted the Rostov region. The Ukrainian Air Force released images of the missiles in flight, but no casualties have been reported.
