Zelensky Condemns Russia's 'Inhumane' Christmas Attack on Ukraine
Dec 25, 2024, 02:12 PM
On Christmas Day, December 25, 2024, Russia launched a massive missile and drone attack on Ukraine's energy infrastructure, causing widespread power outages across the country. Ukrainian officials reported that over 70 missiles, including ballistic missiles, and more than 100 drones, including Shahed drones, were deployed in the assault, which targeted thermal power plants and other critical facilities. President Volodymyr Zelensky condemned the attack as 'inhumane,' stating that 'Putin deliberately chose Christmas for an attack. What could be more inhumane?' Ukrainian air defenses shot down over 50 missiles and a significant number of drones. The strikes resulted in at least one death and left half a million residents in the Kharkiv region without heating, disrupting services in 2,677 buildings. The attacks forced Ukrainians to take shelter in metro stations on Christmas morning.
