Israeli Forces Kill Two, Wound 31 Lebanese Civilians as Troops Remain After Deadline
Jan 26, 2025, 07:28 AM
Israeli forces opened fire on Lebanese civilians attempting to return to their homes in southern Lebanon, killing at least two people and wounding 31 others, according to the Lebanese Health Ministry. The incident occurred as residents tried to re-enter villages including Kfar Kila, Houla, Borg al-Mlouk, and Wadi al-Slouqi, following the expiry of a 60-day deadline for Israeli forces to withdraw from the area. Despite the deadline, Israeli troops remained on the ground, preventing residents from returning to their homes. Two Lebanese men were reportedly detained by Israeli soldiers in Houla. Lebanese media reported that casualties increased throughout the day, with initial reports of several injuries escalating to two deaths and over 30 wounded.
