US Warns North Korea Gains War Experience in Ukraine's Kursk Region, Enhancing Capabilities
Jan 9, 2025, 08:25 AM
The United States has issued a warning that North Korea is enhancing its war capabilities by gaining combat experience through its involvement in the conflict alongside Russia against Ukraine. According to Deputy U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. Dorothy Camille Shea, over 12,000 North Korean troops are currently deployed in Russia and have been engaging Ukrainian forces in the Kursk region since last month. Shea highlighted that North Korea is significantly benefiting from receiving Russian military equipment, technology, and experience, which is making Pyongyang more capable of waging war against its neighbors. The U.S. also expressed concerns that North Korea might leverage these improvements to promote weapons sales and military training contracts globally.
