Trump Condemns New Orleans Attack Killing 10, Links It to Illegal Immigration

President-elect Donald Trump has condemned the New Orleans truck attack that occurred on New Year's Day at around 3:15 a.m., describing it as an 'act of pure evil.' The attack involved a pickup truck plowing into a crowd of revelers on Bourbon Street in the French Quarter, killing at least 10 people and injuring about 35 others. The suspect, identified as Shamsud-Din Bahar Jabbar, was killed in a police shootout. Authorities are investigating the incident as an act of terrorism, with the FBI leading the probe. Improvised explosives were reportedly found in the suspect's vehicle, though their functionality remains unclear. The truck reportedly entered the U.S. from Mexico through Eagle Pass, Texas, two days before the attack. Trump linked the attack to illegal immigration, reiterating his campaign stance on the dangers posed by criminals entering the U.S. illegally. He pledged full support from his incoming administration to assist New Orleans in its recovery and investigation efforts. President Joe Biden also condemned the attack, directed federal resources to aid the investigation, and instructed the FBI to ensure no remaining threats exist.
