New Orleans Attack Kills 15, Including Ex-Princeton Player and Nursing Student
Jan 1, 2025, 09:23 PM
A terror attack in New Orleans on New Year's Day resulted in the deaths of at least 15 people and injured dozens more when a pickup truck sped down Bourbon Street during celebrations, striking pedestrians. Among the victims were 18-year-old nursing student Nikyra Cheyenne Dedeaux from Gulfport, Mississippi, who was due to start a nursing program at Blue Cliff College on January 13; former Princeton football player and All-Ivy League kick returner, 28-year-old Tiger Bech from Lafayette, Louisiana, who was the brother of TCU wide receiver Jack Bech; 37-year-old warehouse manager and father of two, Reggie Hunter from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, who decided 'on a whim' to visit Bourbon Street and whose cousin was seriously injured; and 28-year-old deli manager Nicole Perez from Metairie, Louisiana. The driver targeted the crowded street early Wednesday morning. Authorities are investigating the incident as a potential terrorist act.
