Yolanda Saldívar, the 64-year-old convicted of the 1995 murder of 23-year-old Tejano singer Selena Quintanilla-Pérez, has filed for parole, with a hearing scheduled for March 2025. Saldívar, who has been serving a life sentence at the Patrick L. O'Daniel Unit in Gatesville, Texas, is eligible for parole after 30 years due to her clean prison record. The parole hearing will determine whether she will be released. Saldívar's notoriety has led to a reported 'bounty on her head' among inmates, resulting in her being kept in protective custody. Despite her claims that the shooting was accidental and intended as a suicide attempt, she was found guilty of first-degree murder after it was discovered she had embezzled $60,000 from Selena. Selena's family is expected to receive formal notice of the hearing in January.
