Yolanda Saldívar, Convicted of Killing 'Queen of Tejano Music' Selena Quintanilla, Seeks Parole Eligible March 30, 2025
Jan 3, 2025, 07:11 PM
Yolanda Saldívar, convicted of the murder of Tejano singer Selena Quintanilla, known as the 'Queen of Tejano Music', in 1995, has filed for parole in Texas. Saldívar, now 64, is serving a life sentence at the Patrick L. O'Daniel Unit in Gatesville, Texas, and will be eligible for parole on March 30, 2025. The parole review process, which includes reviewing letters of support and protest, interviewing Saldívar, and preparing a case summary for the board voting panel, is currently underway. Saldívar was the president of Selena's fan club and managed her boutiques when she shot and killed the 23-year-old singer on March 31, 1995, at a Days Inn motel in Corpus Christi. The murder followed allegations of embezzlement against Saldívar by Selena and her family. Saldívar has maintained that the shooting was accidental and has denied embezzlement claims, reiterating her stance in a 2024 documentary.
