Yolanda Saldívar Files for Parole in Texas 30 Years After Selena Quintanilla's Murder, Review Set for March 30
Jan 3, 2025, 04:49 PM
Yolanda Saldívar, now 64 years old and convicted of the first-degree murder of Tejano singer Selena Quintanilla in 1995, has filed for parole in Texas. Saldívar, who was the president of Selena's fan club and manager of her boutiques, shot and killed the singer at a Days Inn motel in Corpus Christi on March 31, 1995. Selena was 23 years old at the time of her death. Saldívar was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole after 30 years. She is currently in the parole review process, with her eligibility date set for March 30. The Texas Department of Criminal Justice records indicate that Saldívar is imprisoned at the Patrick L. O'Daniel Unit in Gatesville, Texas. Prior to the murder, Selena's family had accused Saldívar of embezzling money from the singer's fan club and boutiques, leading to her dismissal. Saldívar has maintained that the shooting was an accident and that she did not intend to kill Selena.
