Eight Austrian UN Peacekeepers Injured in Rocket Strike on UNIFIL's Naqoura Base; Hezbollah Suspected
Oct 29, 2024, 03:09 PM
Eight Austrian UN peacekeepers were injured in a rocket strike on UNIFIL's headquarters in Naqoura, southern Lebanon, near the Israeli border, according to Austria's defense ministry. The injuries were slight and superficial, with none requiring urgent medical attention. The rocket, which set a vehicle workshop on fire, was fired from north of UNIFIL's headquarters, likely by Hezbollah or an affiliated group, UNIFIL said in a statement. The peacekeepers were not in bunkers at the time of the attack. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) stated that Hezbollah launched the rocket from the Hallousiyyeh El Faouqa area and confirmed Hezbollah's responsibility for the attack. UNIFIL has opened an investigation into the incident.
