VisitTurkey Aims to Boost Syria's Oil and Gas Production, Aid 3 Million Refugees in Post-Assad Reconstruction
Dec 29, 2024, 08:25 PM
Turkey has sent a delegation from its Energy and Natural Resources Ministry to Damascus to assess and address Syria's infrastructure, energy, and electricity needs following the fall of Bashar al-Assad. Turkish Energy Minister Alparslan Bayraktar stated that the delegation aims to help Syrians regain access to essential services through short, medium, and long-term planning. Turkey's efforts are part of a broader initiative to increase oil and natural gas production in Syria, as well as to provide electricity to areas currently without power. This move is seen as Turkey's latest step in its involvement in the reconstruction of the war-torn country, which could also involve the construction of new oil and gas pipelines. Turkey is home to nearly 3 million Syrian refugees, and the reconstruction efforts are expected to facilitate their return.
