Linda Lavin, the Tony Award-winning actress renowned for her role as Alice Hyatt in the CBS sitcom 'Alice,' died on December 29 at the age of 87. Her death was due to complications from recently discovered lung cancer. Lavin's career spanned both stage and screen, with her Broadway success beginning in the 1960s and culminating in a Tony win for her performance in Neil Simon's 'Broadway Bound' in 1987. On television, she became a household name playing a widowed mother and waitress in 'Alice,' which aired from 1976 to 1985.
