Afghan National Nasir Ahmad Tawhedi Arrested for Plotting Election Day Terror Attack in Oklahoma

The Justice Department has announced the arrest of an Afghan national, Nasir Ahmad Tawhedi, residing in Oklahoma, who is accused of plotting a terrorist attack on Election Day. Tawhedi is alleged to have planned a mass shooting targeting large crowds in the U.S. on behalf of the terror group ISIS. The arrest was carried out by the FBI, with Director Christopher Wray confirming Tawhedi's involvement in the plot. According to the criminal complaint, Tawhedi and a juvenile accomplice met with FBI assets on October 7 in a rural location in the Western District of Oklahoma to purchase and receive weapons and ammunition. Tawhedi is charged with material support of ISIS and conspiring to receive weapons.
