Greece to Buy 36 PULS Systems from Israel, 590 US Drones in €600-700M Deal
Dec 13, 2024, 04:48 PM
Greece is in advanced negotiations to acquire 36 PULS rocket artillery systems from Israel, valued at €600-700 million, as part of its ongoing military modernization efforts. The deal includes the construction of components in Greece, enhancing local industry. Additionally, the National Security Governmental Council (KYSEA) has approved the procurement of 590 US-made Switchblade 300 and Switchblade 600 drones, known as 'kamikaze' drones, at a cost of €25 million, significantly less than their full price due to Foreign Military Financing (FMF) grant assistance from the US. These acquisitions are part of a broader 10-year plan that also involves purchasing up to 40 new F-35 fighter jets from the US and four frigates from France. The PULS systems, manufactured by Elbit, have a range of up to 300 kilometers, while the Switchblade drones will be deployed to protect Greece's northeastern border with Turkey and its Aegean islands.
