Apr 18, 2024, 07:19 AM
In the first six months of Fiscal Year 2024, U.S. Border Patrol has apprehended 24,296 Chinese nationals attempting to cross the border illegally, surpassing the total for the entire previous fiscal year, which stood at 24,125. This marks a 7000% increase from the 342 apprehensions recorded in FY21. The majority of those apprehended this year, approximately 85%, were single adults. The surge in illegal crossings has sparked concerns among lawmakers, including criticisms of President Biden and Secretary Mayorkas for failing to secure the border effectively.
