VisitQualcomm Unveils AI-Powered Snapdragon X for $600 Laptops and Mini PCs at CES 2025
Jan 6, 2025, 04:03 PM
Qualcomm Inc. has introduced the Snapdragon X, a new processor aimed at expanding its presence in the budget-friendly laptop market. Unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2025 in Las Vegas, the Snapdragon X is designed to power laptops and mini desktop PCs priced around $600. The chip, built on a 4nm process, features an 8-core Oryon CPU with a maximum clock speed of 3.0 GHz, a GPU capable of 1.7 TFLOPS, and a neural processing unit (NPU) with 45 TOPS, enabling it to support Microsoft's Copilot+ features for AI-powered computing. Qualcomm claims the Snapdragon X offers superior performance and efficiency compared to Intel's Core 5 120U, with up to 163% faster single-core performance at iso-power and significantly better battery life. The chip also supports Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, and can power up to three external displays at 60Hz, with LPDDR5x RAM for enhanced speed. The company is targeting students, freelance workers, and budget-conscious consumers with this new offering, which will be available in devices from manufacturers such as Acer, Asus, Dell, HP, and Lenovo starting in the first quarter of 2025.
