CENTCOM Airstrikes in Former Assad and Russian Areas Kill 12 ISIS Terrorists
Dec 16, 2024, 05:55 PM
The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) conducted precision airstrikes in Syria on December 16, targeting Islamic State (ISIS) camps and operatives, resulting in the death of 12 ISIS terrorists. These operations were part of an ongoing mission to disrupt, degrade, and defeat ISIS, preventing the group from conducting external operations and ensuring it does not seek to reconstitute in central Syria. The attacks were carried out in areas formerly controlled by the Assad regime and Russian forces, aiming to maintain pressure on ISIS amidst the recent political upheaval in Syria. General Michael Erik Kurilla, the commander of CENTCOM, stated that they will not allow ISIS to restructure and take advantage of the current situation in Syria. There were no civilian casualties reported.
