Israel Deploys Tanks to Golan Border Amid Concerns Over Assad Regime's Stability
Dec 8, 2024, 04:16 AM
The Israeli military has reinforced its presence in the Golan Heights amid concerns over developments in Syria, according to multiple reports from Israeli media outlets. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have increased troop deployments along the Syrian border, including the 210th division, the 98th division, and units from the paratrooper and commando brigades. The move comes as the Israeli army prepares for various scenarios, with officials citing fears of instability following unconfirmed reports about the potential collapse of the Assad regime. Israeli tanks and armored vehicles have reportedly entered the buffer zone in the Quneitra area, including the town of Al-Hamdiyah, to strengthen border defenses. The IDF has also set up checkpoints throughout the Golan Heights to prevent infiltration. Senior security officials have been called for meetings to discuss the rapidly changing situation in Syria. The IDF stated that troops are deployed along the border and are ready for all scenarios.
