Kevin O'Leary and Frank McCourt Bid to Buy TikTok from ByteDance, Seek Trump's Support to Prevent U.S. Ban
Jan 6, 2025, 08:58 PM
Shark Tank investor Kevin O'Leary has announced that he is joining with billionaire Frank McCourt in a bid to acquire TikTok from its Chinese parent company ByteDance to prevent the app from being banned in the United States. The multibillion-dollar deal aims to be finalized by January 19th. O'Leary plans to rewrite TikTok's algorithm to address security concerns. He met with President Donald Trump at Mar-a-Lago over the weekend to inform him of the plan and to request assistance from the administration, stating that they will need the government's help to close the deal.
