North Korea Fires Multiple Short-Range Ballistic Missiles Into East Sea, South Korea Says
Jan 14, 2025, 01:11 AM
North Korea fired multiple short-range ballistic missiles into the East Sea on Tuesday, according to South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff. The missiles were launched from near the city of Kangye in Jagang Province at approximately 9:30 a.m. local time and flew about 250 kilometers before landing in the waters off the country's east coast. The launch marks Pyongyang's second missile test in eight days and comes just a week before U.S. President Donald Trump returns to office. Acting South Korean President Choi stated that the missile launches violate United Nations Security Council resolutions and that South Korea will respond firmly to the provocations.
