1,000 Palestinian Prisoners to Be Released in Initial Gaza Agreement Between Hamas and Israel
Jan 14, 2025, 11:25 AM
Approximately 1,000 Palestinian prisoners are set to be released as part of an initial agreement in the ongoing negotiations related to Gaza, according to sources close to Hamas. The deal includes the liberation of Hamas fighters and 170 prisoners serving long sentences. These prisoners were arrested by the Israeli army after October 7. In exchange, Israel is expected to release 50 Palestinian prisoners, including 30 serving life sentences, for each female soldier hostage freed by Hamas. The first phase of the agreement involves the release of three hostages on the first day, followed by four more a week later, with the initial hostages being women.
