South Korean Parliament Fails to Impeach President Yoon Over Martial Law Bid as Ruling Party Boycotts

South Korea's parliament failed to pass a motion to impeach President Yoon Suk Yeol after lawmakers from his ruling People Power Party (PPP) boycotted the vote on Saturday. The opposition had submitted the impeachment motion over Yoon's brief imposition of martial law earlier in the week. Despite holding 192 seats, the opposition was unable to reach the required minimum of 200 votes without the PPP's participation. All but two PPP lawmakers walked out of the chamber, effectively ensuring the motion's failure. As a result, President Yoon remains in office.
