Israel Warns Hamas of Intensified Strikes in Gaza Over 100 Hostages Held for 14 Months
Jan 1, 2025, 03:56 PM
Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz has issued a stern warning to Hamas, stating that the group will face intensified military action in Gaza if it does not release approximately 100 hostages held for the past 14 months and cease rocket attacks on Israel. Katz made these remarks during a visit to the southern Israeli city of Netivot, which was targeted by rocket fire from Gaza the previous night. He emphasized that Israel is prepared to make significant compromises in line with principles outlined by the U.S. President, but warned that failure to release the hostages and stop the attacks would result in 'blows with a force not seen in Gaza for a long time.' Katz also called on the residents of Gaza to rise against Hamas, accusing the group of using civilians as human shields.
