Trump Credited for Release of Four Israeli Hostages Held 477 Days by Hamas, 200 Palestinian Prisoners Freed
Jan 25, 2025, 05:16 PM
The White House has credited President Donald Trump with securing the release of four Israeli hostages held by Hamas. The hostages, Karina Ariev, Daniella Gilboa, Naama Levy, and Liri Albag, were freed on Saturday after 477 days in captivity, as part of a ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement between Israel and Hamas. The four women, who had been abducted from the Nahal Oz military base during the October 7, 2023 attack, were handed over to the International Red Cross in Gaza City's Palestine Square before being transferred to Israeli forces and reunited with their families. Their medical condition is reported to be stable. In exchange, Israel released 200 Palestinian prisoners. The White House stated that the United States will continue to work with Israel to push for the release of all remaining hostages and to pursue peace in the region.
