A vehicle plowed into a crowd of New Year's revelers on Bourbon Street in New Orleans' French Quarter early on January 1, 2025, resulting in at least 10 deaths and 30 injuries, according to city officials. The incident occurred around 3:15 a.m. when a pickup truck drove into pedestrians celebrating the New Year. Witnesses reported that after the crash, the driver exited the vehicle and began firing a weapon, prompting an exchange of gunfire with the New Orleans Police Department (NOPD). The driver was shot by officers and taken into custody. The NOPD has declared a mass casualty event, and emergency services are on the scene.
