The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have officially confirmed that on September 8, 2024, they conducted a covert commando raid, code-named "Operation Many Ways," on an underground Iranian missile manufacturing facility near Masyaf in Syria. The operation involved 120 soldiers from the IDF's elite Shaldag unit, who were airlifted into Syria. The commandos killed guards, collected intelligence, and destroyed the facility within two hours. The facility, code-named "Deep Layer," was built into a mountain and was intended to produce precision-guided missiles for use by Iran and Hezbollah against Israel.
