Three people were killed and eight others injured after a suspected drunk driver plowed his vehicle into a group of people celebrating the Fourth of July at Corlears Hook Park on the Lower East Side of Manhattan. The driver, identified as Daniel Hyden, a substance abuse counselor, has been charged with three counts of driving while intoxicated and one count of operating a vehicle while impaired. The incident occurred as the crowd awaited a fireworks show. Four of the injured are in critical condition. Initial reports varied, with some stating two dead and nine injured, and others reporting seven injured.
