Harvey Weinstein's New York Sex Crimes Charges Consolidated for 2025 Retrial
Oct 23, 2024, 03:46 PM
Harvey Weinstein, the former Hollywood producer, appeared in court today in New York for a procedural hearing. The Manhattan Criminal Court Judge Curtis J. Farber granted a motion to consolidate Weinstein's sex crimes charges into one trial. This decision combines the new indictment with the charges from his overturned 2020 conviction. Weinstein, who was sentenced to 23 years in prison in 2020 and recently diagnosed with bone marrow cancer, denies all allegations against him. His retrial, initially scheduled for next month, has been moved to 2025. Weinstein's lawyer plans to hire a private investigator to look into a new allegation that will now be part of the consolidated case. Prosecutors argued that duplicative trials would waste judicial resources.
