McDonald's Invests $100M to Recover from E. coli Outbreak Linked to Quarter Pounder Onions
Nov 16, 2024, 11:00 PM
McDonald’s has announced a $100 million investment to recover from an E. coli outbreak linked to slivered onions on its Quarter Pounder hamburgers. The outbreak, which has affected 14 states, has resulted in one death and sickened 104 people. The investment includes $65 million to directly support the hardest-hit franchises, aiming to boost restaurant sales and accelerate recovery. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) confirmed that the slivered onions were the likely source of the E. coli. Taylor Farms in California recalled onions potentially linked to the outbreak.
