Grimmway Farms Recalls Organic Carrots Linked to E. coli Outbreak: One Dead, 39 Ill in 18 States

Grimmway Farms of Bakersfield, California, has issued a nationwide recall of organic whole and baby carrots after an E. coli O121:H9 outbreak linked to their products resulted in one death and 39 illnesses across 18 states, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced on Sunday. Fifteen people have been hospitalized. The recalled carrots were sold under multiple brand names, including those at major retailers such as Trader Joe's, Whole Foods (365), Walmart, Target, Publix, Kroger, Albertsons, Food Lion, Sprouts, and others. Consumers are advised to check their homes for recalled bagged organic carrots and to discard them if found. The CDC urges anyone experiencing severe symptoms of E. coli infection to seek medical attention.
