Emerson College Poll: 41% of Young Adults Find UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson's Killing by Luigi Mangione Acceptable
Dec 17, 2024, 08:25 PM
A recent Emerson College poll indicates that 41% of adults aged 18-29 consider the killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson to be acceptable, slightly more than the 40% who view it as unacceptable. This contrasts with the broader sentiment, where 68% of all respondents found the actions of the killer unacceptable. The poll also revealed that 24% of young adults found the killing 'somewhat acceptable,' while 17% deemed it 'completely acceptable.' Among political affiliations, 22% of Democrats found the killing acceptable, compared to 16% of independents and 12% of Republicans. Luigi Mangione, aged 26, was arrested in connection with Thompson's murder on December 4 in New York City. The survey was conducted between December 11-13 among 1,000 registered voters, with a margin of error of 3 percentage points.
